Ex-Convict Admits Attempted Murder In Atlantic City: Prosecutor

A 31-year-old Atlantic City man has admitted to attempted murder charges, authorities said.

Ibn Jones pleaded guilty on Monday, Dec. 5 to first-degree attempted murder and second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun by a certain person not to possess weapons, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

Jones was charged in connection to a shooting that took place in Atlantic City on Nov. 9, 2021, where the victim was shot one time from behind.

As a result of guilty pleas, Jones faces concurrent sentences of nine years in a New Jersey State Prison

The Atlantic City Police Department Violent Crimes Unit investigated this case with assistance from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, N.J.S.P. Forensics Unit, and the F.B.I. Cellular Analysis Survey Team.

Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 19, 2023.
